Wayne I. Ohlson

Wayne, 83, of East Peoria, IL, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022, at his residence.  He was born Nov 27, 1938, in Chicago, IL to Irwin and Hildur Forsman Ohlson.

Wayne is survived by his wife Carol, his brother Bruce (Linda) of Locust Grove, OK, and his children Eric (Sally) of Edelstein, April (David) of Dunlap, and Carrie (Glenn) of East Peoria, along with seven grandchildren: Meghan, Ellie, Daniel, Michelle, Steven, Kyle, and Bryce. He was preceded in death by his brother Dennis and granddaughter Bekha.

He loved woodworking, fishing, word puzzles, cartoons, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was married to the love of his life, Carol Ohlson, for 60 years. 

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Bradley University in 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for 3 years, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant.  After his honorable discharge, he returned to central Illinois and had a 30-year career with Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) as a civil engineer, retiring in 1991. 

At the request of Wayne, cremation has been accorded and no services will be scheduled.
