Tony L. McCollum, 78, of Washington, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on December 13, 1944, in Panama City, FL, the son of Claude and Gussie Wilkins McCollum.
Surviving are three children Gary (Kelly) McCollum of Morton, IL, Keith (Carmen) McCollum of Las Vegas, NV and Deanie (Jonathan) Srakovcic of Wilmington, NC. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, and Alannah, and two great-grandchildren. Further surviving is one sister Bev McKelvey of Belleville, IL. Tony was a devoted friend to his four-legged companion, Buddy, who brought immense joy and companionship into his life. He was preceded in death by one sister Barb McMurtrey.
Tony's professional life was marked by a long and successful career at Caterpillar Tractor Company, where he worked for 33 years and retired as a plant manager. His commitment to his work was evident in his dedication to the company and his colleagues, who admired him for his leadership and work ethic.
Tony was passionate about life's simple pleasures outside of work. He found great joy in fishing, a hobby that allowed him to connect with nature and enjoy the tranquility of the outdoors. He also had a green thumb, spending countless hours in his garden and preserving the fruits of his labor through canning.
Above all, Tony cherished the time he spent with his family. He was a loving and generous man who always put his family first. His home was a place of warmth and laughter, filled with the aroma of his home-canned goods and the sound of Buddy's happy barks.
