Terry W. Craig

Terry W. Craig, 67, of Metamora, IL passed away at home on Saturday, June 23, 2018 after suffering from pancreatic cancer for a short period of time.  He was born on December 8, 1950 in Peoria, IL to Clovis C. “Chuck” and Catherine “Katy” (Hale) Craig.  He married Monica Crider-Jones in 1976 and they have two sons.  She survives.  In 2013 he married his true love, Marcie Chamberlain.

Surviving are his wife Marcie of Metamora; sons Tyler Craig and Britt Craig both of East Peoria; grandson Gavin Craig; step-children Dawn Orren, Kelly (Chuck) Elwell, and Todd (Jade) Smith; and nine step-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Donna.

Terry attended Washington Community High School.  In 1970, at the age of 19, Terry was drafted into the Army and served in Viet Nam from 1970-1971 with the First Calvary Infantry where he was wounded twice and is a Purple Heart recipient.  In 1972, after returning from serving his country, he worked for Caterpillar for 30 years, retiring in 2002.  During his years at Caterpillar he was a very dedicated member of the Local UAW 974 and was a union steward for over 27 years.

Terry liked to stay busy and was very handy with fixing things and he loved helping others.  He was an avid Harley enthusiast and if it said Harley on it, he had to have it.  His other love was riding his Harley 2003 Road King Anniversary model.  He was a member of the NRA and has been an avid gun collector for many years.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel.  Private family interment of ashes will be held following the visitation at Spring Bay Cemetery with military rites accorded.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Education Fund for his grandson Gavin at CEFCU.  Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
