Shirley Karlean (Reed) Evans

Shirley Karlean Evans, 85, of Germantown Hills, IL, passed away at 6:32 am on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Unity Point Health-Proctor in Peoria, IL.

She was born on July 19, 1937, in Beecher City, IL, to Mose and Felda C. (Rhoades) Reed. She married Willard K. Evans on November 19, 1955, in Effingham, IL. He passed away on October 26, 1997.

Surviving are their three children, Cheryl (Ron) Vaughan of Eureka, IL, Don Evans of Bayview Gardens, IL, and Pamela (Dennis) Mason of Washington, IL; five grandchildren, Scott (Lisa) Vaughan, Jason Helems, Tara Vaughan, Valerie Helems, and Ryan Vaughan; fourteen great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Junis, Kamden Boone, Alexis Vaughan, Gage Junis, Adalyn Vaughan, Sophia Junis, Samuel Vaughan, Haidyn Vaughan, Chase Helems, Katlyn Helems, Jaden Helems, Kaden Bartell, Kyler Bartell, and Kyra Helems; one great-great-grandson, Romeo Helems; and sister, Charlene Reed of Mattoon, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, great-granddaughter Kylie Helems, sisters Velma, Imogene, and Mildred, and brothers, Edward and Warren.

Shirley was a long-time member of Bayview Baptist Church in Washington, IL and a member of the church choir for many, many years. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, singing in the church choir, reading, traveling to see sights and especially to Hawaii twice with her husband, and spending time with her friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Bayview Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Thibo officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her service, also on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Spring Bay Cemetery in Spring Bay, IL.
