Shawn N. Wilson, 60, of Holden, MO, formerly of Germantown Hills, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 16, 2021 at his home. Shawn was born on August 21, 1960 in Peoria, IL to Keith and Carol (Weinstein) Wilson.
Surviving is his father, Keith Wilson; four sisters, Linda (Larry) Shuda, Cathy (Paul) Scheirer, Cindy (Bruce) Byrum, and Lisa (Rusty) Bohanan; one niece, Amy Hawn; five nephews, Nicholas Scheirer, Michael (Jessica) Scheirer, Jacob (Mandy) Scheirer, Joshua (Carolyn) Scheirer, and Kyle Bohanan; five great-nephews; and friend and fishing partner, Will (Melissa) Allen. He was preceded in death by his mother Carol, paternal grandparents Louis and Marion Wilson, maternal grandparents Adam Weinstein and Ruth Smith, and nephew Scott Hawn.
Shawn had a love of family, work, college basketball (gotta love Duke), Green Bay Packers, cooking, hunting, and fishing. He worked for Burns & McDonnell for 20 years prior to retiring in March, 2021. He had a Bachelor of Science, Forest Resources Management, Master of Forestry, and a Bachelor of Science, Environmental Engineering, graduating with honors Summa Cum Laude. He obtained his PE in 2005 and maintained this until his retirement.
As a youth, Shawn gained a love of the outdoors and it stuck with him for his entire life. He was a very passionate and competitive angler. Shawn appreciated everything about the outdoors and always found the joy in what was around him.
Shawn was very quiet and reserved, yet those who were lucky enough to know him understood that his love for his fellow man and generous soul were endless. He was giving to all whether he knew you or you were a stranger; he would give and care tirelessly. Shawn was a remarkable representative of true humanity. He fiercely protected those he loved and would give the shirt off his back to those in need. Shawn will be greatly missed, but his impact on those he touched will be felt for generations to come.
