Sandra "Sandy" J. (Smith) Mills

Sandra J. “Sandy” Mills, 84, of Metamora, IL, formerly of Germantown Hills, IL, passed away at 9:30 pm on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora, IL.

She was born on February 12, 1939, in Lincoln, IL, to Claire and Hazel (Koester) Smith. She married David E. Mills on February 8, 1957 in Lincoln, IL.

Surviving are her husband, David of Metamora; children, Douglas Mills of Phoenixville, PA, Lisa (Jonathan) Coates of East Peoria, IL, and Greg (Sharyn) Mills of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Drake Mills, Katie Yatsko, Benjamin Coates, Timothy (Julia) Coates, Sydney Mills, Peyton Mills, and Zeb Mills; and great-granddaughter, Eloise Yatsko. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sandy had worked as an executive secretary for 21st Century Marketing. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Peoria, IL. Sandy loved to entertain and was an excellent cook. She always made holidays special. She loved to read, often having a stack of books from the library for the week. Sandy loved to travel and explore. She never knew a stranger and everyone was welcome in her home.  She was a warm, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Pastor Craig Swenson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her service, also on Friday at the funeral home. Following Sandy's service, the family will have a time to celebrate her life at the East Peoria Boat Club to reminisce with family and friends.  Cremation rites will be accorded following her service.
