Ruth Ann Fandel Young, 86, of Metamora, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.
She was born on August 18, 1937, at home in Mendota, IL, a daughter of Edmund and Loretta (Sondgroth) Weber. She married Clifford Fandel on January 3, 1958. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1985. She then married James L. Young of East Peoria, in March of 1987. He survives.
She is also survived by her children, Jim (Julie) Fandel of Metamora, Laurie (Gene) Giles of Germantown Hills, and Joseph Fandel of Peoria; grandchildren, Maggie (Nic) Ruhrup, Madison Fandel, Michael Fandel, Katie (Wes) Rohman, Andy (Alyvia) Giles, and Joey Fandel; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Norbert Weber of Mendota, Carol (Greg) Apuli of Heartland, WI, and Ray (Patti) Weber of Peru, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ralph Weber, Joanne and Alvin Montavon, Sr. Elaine Weber, Vera Weber, Mary Weber, and Rita Pakula.
Ruth volunteered at OSF. She loved flowers and gardening and decorating her home. She and her family owned and operated Cliff’s Market in Metamora. She loved and appreciated all her customers through the 40 plus years.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 18, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora with Father Freddie Gomez officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with visitation to follow from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Church, 415 West Chatham Street, Metamora, IL 61548 or to the Snyder Village Residents in Need Fund, 1200 East Partridge Street, Metamora, IL 61548.
