WASHINGTON?Ronald R. Meeks, 71, of Washington, passed away at 2:45 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2013 at his home. Ron was born on November 28, 1941 in Canton to Leslie E. and Erma (Feaster) Meeks. He married Kathy Albright in Peoria on March 20, 1970. Kathy survives. Also surviving are two sons, Doug (Misha) Meeks of Washington and Chris (Tracy) Meeks of Morton; three loving grandchildren, Garrett, Josie and Hannah; three brothers, Ben (Harriett) Meeks of Eureka, Paul Meeks and Willis (Judy) Meeks, both of Washington; one sister, Connie Widdell of Topeka, Kansas; many nieces and nephews as well as several wonderful friends. He also leaves behind his loving pet and companion, Shy-anne. Ron was also preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Charles, Henry, Leslie, Jr. and Harry and two sisters, Erma Mae and Mattie Marie. He had worked as a precision machinist for more than 44 years, last working for IMT (formerly Tompco) in North Pekin and R.L. Lewis in Pekin. Ron served his country during the Vietnam War in the U. S. Army. He was a devout Christian, husband and father. For more than 20 years he had served as a board member for the Morton Assembly of God and in recent years had been attending Glad Tidings Church in East Peoria. Ron?s first love was God and second was his family. A celebration of Ron?s life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Glad Tidings Church with Pastor Fred Doughty at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Visitation for Ron will be on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Glad Tidings Church and 30 minutes prior to services at the church. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family in arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either Glad Tidings Church or OSF Hospice.
