Robert "Bob" Fink Obituary

Robert E. "Bob" Fink, 91, of Washington, IL, passed away at 12:23 pm Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Carle Health Methodist, surrounded by the family he adored.

He was born on February 24, 1933, in Peoria, the son of James E. and Ethel C. Anderson Fink. He married Micheline Brajon on December 31, 1955, and she passed away on May 10, 2009.  Two brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.

Surviving are three sons: Robert (Lynn Fink) of Normal, IL, James (Tina) Fink of Antigo, WI, and Dan (Lisa Bloss) Fink of Portland, ME. Also surviving are four grandchildren, along with his special friend Carol Eichelkraut. He was blessed with a second family of friends, the Eichelkraut family, who were drawn to his charismatic and generous personality.

Serving with distinction, Bob was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having honorably served his country from 1956 until 1958.

He was a man whose laughter and love of life were as abundant as the great outdoors he cherished; his passion for fishing and camping in the serene landscapes of Northern Wisconsin was matched only by the joy he found in the simple pleasures of playing cards, savoring good food and wine, and reveling in the melodies of traditional Irish and Bluegrass music.

Bob devoted a significant portion of his life to scouting, imparting wisdom, and fostering a sense of adventure in the hearts of young scouts. His commitment to this cause was a testament to his selfless nature, always putting others before himself and guiding them with a gentle hand.

The family was the cornerstone of Bob's world. He took immense pride and delight in his children and grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. His sense of humor-loving spirit created memories that will continue to warm their hearts for years.

Following Bob's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 pm Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Washington Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be one hour before his service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to Washington Presbyterian Church or St. Jude Midwest Affiliate. His arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. To send a condolence or to share a memory with his family, visit
