Robert Hall Colgin, 35, of Peoria, IL, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023, in his home. Born June 22, 1988, he was the son of Annette Colgin Arrington. He married his beautiful wife, Ashley Deuble, on February 22, 2022, in their home in Peoria, IL.
Robert was taken suddenly from us due to an aortic dissection. His cherished legacy will live on through everyone who had the honor of knowing him. He will be remembered for his big heart, loving spirit, goofy enthusiasm, and revolutionary humanist approach to life.
His final years were inspiringly transformative as he grew into his authentic identity, pursued a love of climbing, and recommitted to his lifelong goal to be a musician. Recent notable milestones were playing his band ANTX's first show and finally attending his first Summer Camp Music Festival with his dear cousins Chris and Paul Heine, who have been a bonded trio since childhood.
He loved lighthouses and thought of himself as one, a reliable safe harbor for the people in his life to return after their excursions. His love of astronomy was reflected in his dreamer mindset, always thinking bigger and looking to the moon, stars, and galaxies. He loved following hockey, rooting for the Dallas Stars but never undermining a friend's preferred team.
Other passions included being a wonderful pet dad and band dad, dad jokes, food, coffee, comics, video and board games, jigsaw puzzles, sci-fi, fantasy, adventure, anime, and bringing joy as much as he could. In summary, a sweetheart and a nerd.
Robert is survived by his wife, Ashley Deuble; his mother, Annette (Nate) Arrington, stepsister Kelce (Bret) Fritz of Buffalo, MO; half brothers Taylor and Noah George of Bloomington, IL; Grandparents Connie (Gerald) Reynolds of Pekin, Pam Robinson of East Peoria, along with aunts, uncles, and cousins. His grandmother, Karen Monroe, and great-grandparents preceded him in death.
Robert lived life to the fullest. He was funny, intelligent, and generous, touching the lives of those around him in meaningful ways. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will live on in the memories of those who knew and loved him.
Cremation rites were accorded, and a memorial visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 26, 2023. The visitation will take place from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. There will also be a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for funeral expenses can be made to the family. The team at Mason-White Funeral Home is assisting the family with all necessary arrangements.
