Robert H. “Bob” Bandeko, 92, a current resident of Serenity Assisted Living in East Peoria formerly of Washington IL, passed away at 2:55 am Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
He was born on July 17, 1929, in Peoria, the son of William and Dorothy Neff Bandeko. He married Shirley L. Jones on April 6, 1948, in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, two sons Daniel (Cathy) Bandeko of East Peoria, David (Deb) Bandeko of Peoria, and one daughter Dianna (Scott) McGrew of Poolesville, MD. Also surviving are six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Further surviving is one sister in law JoAnn Martin of Savannah, TN. His parents, one daughter Linda Bandeko, four sisters, and four brothers preceded him in death.
Bob was an honorably discharged U.S. Air Force Veteran. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 38 years. After retirement from Caterpillar, he worked for Uftring Chevrolet in Washington for 27 years. Bob volunteered as a firefighter for Northern Tazewell Fire Protection District for 27 years.
Bob and Shirley attended Riverside Community Church in Peoria and Connect Church in Washington. He formerly attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington and was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He loved to square dance and was a member and past president of the Friendly Squares. Bob was a proud supporter of the Illinois Country Music Association. He enjoyed woodworking and crafts with his wife. Bob enjoyed time with his wife, family, friends and his dog Holly
On Friday, October 1, 2021, a visitation will be at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, October 2, 2021, also at the funeral home. Pastor David Jane will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to International Rett Syndrome Foundation.
