Richard "Sonny" William Collins, Jr.

Richard W. “Sonny” Collins, Jr. passed away on January 26, 2023, at his home in East Peoria, IL at the age of 78.

He was born on February 9, 1944, in Peoria, IL, to Richard W. Sr. and Marguerite E. (Jones) Collins. He married Kathy Isenberg on July 12, 1980 in Deer Creek, IL.

Surviving is his wife, Kathy of East Peoria; two daughters, Tracy (CJ) Langley of Kapolei, Hawaii and Tabitha Collins of Green Bay, Wisconsin; one son, Richard Collins III of East Peoria, IL; six grandchilden, Latisha Langley of San Antonio, TX, Bre’a (Rudy) Langley-Duron of Honolulu, Hawaii, Ty Langley of Montgomery, AL, Clarence Langley IV of Huntsville, AL, Carrie Collins of Peoria, IL, and Tiffany Collins of Green Bay, Wisconsin; three great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Collins, Christopher Collins, and Christian Collins; two sisters, Jacqueline Carmichael of Silvis, IL and Virginia Call of East Peoria, IL; and two brothers, Allen Collins of Cady, Kentucky and Ronald Collins of Peoria Heights, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda Mae Shattuck, and two brothers-in-law Richard Carmichael and Harry Call.

Sonny was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving from 1961 until 1965. He worked at Caterpillar from 1965 until 1995 and then at Peoria Charter from 2004 until 2011. He was a member of the American Legion Spring Bay Post #1115.

Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Burial of Ashes will follow in Spring Bay Cemetery with military rites accorded.
