Richard "Dick" Joseph Alig

Richard Joseph “Dick” Alig, 79, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 8:38 pm on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

He was born on November 18, 1943, in Washington, IL, to Gilbert Alois and Florence Clara (Schierer) Alig. He married Evaline E. “Ev” Green on February 1, 1964 in Metamora, IL. She passed away on September 24, 2019.

Surviving are their four children, R. Wade (Angie) Alig of East Peoria, IL, Brad (Dawn) Alig of Crystal Lake, IL, Vicki (Todd) Kendrick of East Peoria, and Melissa (Ryan) Collier of Everett, WA; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brothers, Roger (Vickie) Alig of Metamora and Dale Alig of Morton, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Norma Jean Murphy.

Dick owned Alig Construction and Alig Stickelmaier Builders for 25 years and then worked for OSF St. Francis Medical Center for 15 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora. Dick coached baseball and basketball at St. Mary’s, was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and Metamora Redbirds fan. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. The family encourages family and friends to wear either Cardinals or Redbirds gear to the visitation and funeral.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father David Kipfer officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday at the church with visitation to follow from 9:30 am until mass time. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Metamora.
