Polly Fuller Obituary

Polly Fuller, wife, daughter, sister, teacher, and pretty much the best human ever, passed away peacefully on January 23rd, 2023, after a long battle with glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer.
Polly is survived by her husband, Thomas, and her children, Annie, and Grady. Polly's loving parents, Tim, and Judy Sponsler helped care for her during her long illness and will miss her terribly. Polly is also survived by her sister, Amy, and her brothers Scott and John - the best, most-supportive siblings one could ever have! She has many other nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles who remember her as the sweet, crazy Polly who could always be counted on to tell a dirty joke!
Annie and Grady are Polly's greatest accomplishments and being their mom was her most important job. Polly enjoyed traveling with her family, visiting over 40 states and several foreign countries. She was so happy to have lived long enough to watch them grow into the wonderful, funny, smart, and caring young man and woman they have become! Grady and Annie, mom knows you will continue to grow into amazing adults, and she will miss you very much.
After love for her family, Polly's greatest passion was teaching. As a long-time Spanish teacher at Washington Community High School, Polly helped develop a generation of students, who care not only about learning a new language, but also about becoming good and kind people. Polly prided herself on creating a classroom where students felt safe to both learn and be accepted for who and what they are. There is a long line of graduates who love Polly for helping them become good people and teaching them the importance of living life to the "Fullerest"!
Polly was ridiculously frugal and would have hated the idea of people spending money on flowers for her! In lieu of soon-to-die flowers, Polly requested donations to the KBStrong Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising money for glioblastoma research and supporting the victims and their families. Donations can be made at https://kbstrong-fightingthefight.com/pages/donations.
A celebration of Polly's life will take place on February 3, 2023, at Connect Church in Washington, IL from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. A short service and program will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by food, beverages, and visitation. While Polly would have hated the attention, her husband wants their children to witness how many people their mom impacted during her too-short life. Polly had no enemies. She never met a stranger. She never put on airs...ever...about anything. She never tried to be someone she wasn't. Polly simply wanted to be a good mother, wife, sister, friend, and teacher. Mission accomplished, my love. Mission accomplished.
