Phyllis Marie Wiechmann

Phyllis Marie Wiechmann, 85, of Germantown Hills, IL passed away at 8:38 pm on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Unity Point Health-Methodist in Peoria, IL. She was born on January 2, 1935 in Flanagan, IL to Walter Andrew and Leola Lorene (Kipfer) Zehr. She married Charles Wilbur Wiechmann on March 29, 1953 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Flanagan, IL.

Surviving are her husband Chuck of Germantown Hills; children Teresa Barnard of Stanford, IL, Torrey Wiechmann and Todd (Deborah) Wiechmann both of Germantown Hills, and Tim (Cyndi) Wiechmann of Peoria Heights; seven grandchildren Nicole (Sylvan) Maloney, Natalie (Nathaniel) Kamp, Melissa (Bryce) Gillespie, Emily (Jeff) Fussner, Stephanie Wiechmann, Ryan Wiechmann, and Dalton Wiechmann; eleven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Jean Zehr of Flanagan. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Joseph and Bertha (Staley) Zehr, maternal grandparents Chris and Susie Kipfer, parents Walter and Leola, and brother Donald Zehr.

Phyllis worked as the HR manager for Sears Roebuck and Company and retired as the store manager in 1993 after 25 years of service. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington, IL, the Metamora Women’s Club, Germantown Hills Parents Club, Den Mother, Girl Scouts, Sears Retirees Club serving as both President and Vice-President, church groups Lydia Circle and Hannah Circle, and the Faith Funeral Meal Ministry Team.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
