Paul Heger Obituary

Paul Ross Heger, 29, of Peoria, IL passed away at 2:33 pm on November 22, 2019 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.  He was born on March 13, 1990 in Lemoore, California to Donald Kevin Shay and Lois Casto.

Surviving are his mother and step-father Lois and Edward Casto of Peoria; brother Nic (Andrea) Rogers of Wheaton, IL; fiancé Gwendolyn Richmond of Peoria; and childhood friend Carlos (Maria) Ramos of Peoria.

Paul graduated from Woodruff High School in 2009 and Midwest Technical Institute for HVAC.  He participated in JROTC and cross-country during high school.  Paul enjoyed being active, going to the gym, lifting and running, driving fast cars, watching movies, eating junk food, trying new or never had before foods, fixing things around the house, learning about new things, working with his hands, and taking things apart and putting them back together.  He loved finding random things such as paintings and old computers that seemed valuable that he could sell.  He liked to make money.

He loved making people laugh and tried to make a joke to see people laugh and smile.  He enjoyed doing daily devotions with his older brother at night.  Paul worked hard and at times would have two and even three jobs.  He had worked at Hollybrook Apartments in maintenance, Sushi PoPo in the kitchen, serving, dishwashing, and cooking at The Fish House, and lastly as a material handler, fork truck operator, and plasma operator at O’Brien Steel.

Paul had the best luck with scratch offs and slot machines and would win almost every time.  He enjoyed playing video games and collecting pokemon cards and finding ones that he didn’t have.  His famous saying, “awwwww snaps” became his catchphrase.  He loved social life and was a social butterfly.  He could fit in with any crowd even if it was awkward at first but then you can’t help but to love being around him.

He faced every day head on and never stopped making plans for the future.  Paul spent time in Jordan and loved the culture.  He always talked about traveling the world and loved going on adventures.  He would drive around and cruise seeing everything.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Mason-White Funeral Home, 20 Valley Forge Road, Washington, IL 61571.  Memorial Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be given in Paul’s name to OSF Richard L.
