Norberta Jean Faulkner, 71, of Dunlap, IL, was born on May 28, 1951, in Peoria, IL to Norbert and Louisa (Block) Fandel and she passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
She grew up on a farm in Germantown Hills, IL. As a child she cared for rabbits and had a great love for animals. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School in Metamora and graduated from the Academy of Our Lady in 1969. After graduation, she was hired by Parkway Plymouth, working in the business department. She had many other jobs including being a bank teller, working in Medicare billing at OSF, and her favorite job as a waitress at Olive Garden. Jean loved to talk to the customers, and many requested her by name to be their waitress.
Jean, her preferred name, had two children, Angela Faulkner and Steven (Wendy) Faulkner. Jean is survived by her children, grandchildren Ave’ Thomas and Caitlyn Faulkner, siblings Helen (Jerry) Vicare, Betty (Mike) Phillips, Mike (Jan) Fandel, and Geri (Rick) Hammer, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved Uncle Pros, and infant brother David Norbert.
Jean enjoyed bowling, embroidery, sewing, gardening and taking bus trips across the United States with her friends. Jean had boundless energy and never seemed to sit down, saying that there was always more to do! Jean was always up for good gossip and was the life of the party at work and with her friends and family. She loved a good bargain and at times would leave the clearance tag on presents so everyone knew what a good deal she got! Jean’s generous and kindhearted personality made her loved by everyone she met.
