Milton Joseph Scheirer, Sr.

Milton J. Scheirer, Sr., 86, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 3:05 pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Unity Point Health-Proctor in Peoria, IL.

He was born on June 5, 1935, in Metamora, IL, to William J. and Anna (Waldschmidt) Scheirer. He married Bernice A. Grebner on July 6, 1957 in Metamora.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice of Metamora; children, Dale (Deborah A.) Scheirer of Toluca, Daniel (Debora J.) Scheirer, Diane Scheirer, Milton (Kimberly) Scheirer, Jr., and Julie (Ronald) Branson, all of Metamora; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, and three brothers.

Milton was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korea War. He worked as a manufacturing associate at Hallmark Fixture Operations in Metamora for 34 years. Milt was also a life-long farmer and farming was his life! He enjoyed making homemade wine, gardening, front porch sitting, and enjoying time with his family.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Vien Van Do officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until service time on Tuesday also at the church. The family is requesting that everyone to please wear a mask to insure the safety of all present. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery with military rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary’s School, 415 West Chatham Street, Metamora, IL 61548.
