Merridy Anne Friederich, 85, of Metamora, IL went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.

Born February 14, 1937 in Peoria, Illinois she was the daugher of Henry and Norma (Kilgus) Altorfer. She married Franklin Edward Friederich on June 24, 1956 at the Altorfer home in Peoria.
She is survived by sons, Vincent (Kathie) Friederich of Choctow, Oklahoma, Victor (Robin) Friederich of Eureka, Illinois, and Van (Leslie) Friederich of Goodfield, Illinois; grandchildren, Kristie (Craig) McDougal, Valerie (Shawn) Boren, Vanna (Cole) Jones, Amanda (Shawn) King-Opper, Jillian (Brandon) Graves, Zachary (Timmy) Friederich, Tristan (Julianna Hotmire) Friederich, and Luka Friederich; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Carol) Altorfer; and a handful of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Franklin Edward Friederich; her parents; and her daughter, Valerie Ann Friederich.
After marriage, she landed on a farm outside of Metamora where she and Franklin raised their family. Merridy proudly served on the farm and raised her children. She eventually drove a school bus for Metamora High where she was respectively nicknamed “Sarge”, as she took no flak from any of the kids on the bus, including her own sons.
Her hobbies were ceramics, cross-stitching, and quilting. She opened a small business called “Wee Bit Crafty” and worked from the house to teach the art of crafting the things she loved to do. She also enjoyed spending time in the Word and teaching women’s bible studies.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Snyder Village “Resident in Need Fund” at 1200 East Partridge Street, Metamora, IL 61548 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
