Maryanna V. Castaneda

Maryanna V. Castaneda, 79, of Germantown Hills passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 7:35 am at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. She was born on July 14, 1935 in Germantown Hills to Ross and Kathryn (King) Mahoney. She married Alex J. Castaneda on October 5, 1973 in Peoria. He survives. Also surviving are her children, Lisa (Tom) Lindsey of San Benito, TX, Bruce Baumgartner of East Peoria, Barry (Diane) Castaneda of Austin, TX, Randall (Shelley) Castaneda of Indianapolis, IN, Lori (Kevin) Anderson of Brimfield, Anthony (Mary Ann) Castaneda of Troy, OH; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Norma Grob of Utica, IL and brother Mahlon (Betty) Mahoney of Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ross "Babe" Mahoney. Maryanna was a parent infant educator helping children with special needs at PARC/Allied Agencies, retiring after 25 years. She enjoyed music and also enjoyed watching her birds, especially her hummingbirds. She was a member of the Audubon Society and enjoyed her time with her lady friends in their "Old Hens" Group. She had a special bond with her granddaughter, Jill Brunson, and her girls, Mackenzie and Averie Anna. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. The family will greet friends and family prior to the service at 2:00 pm. Burial of ashes will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to PARC/EPIC or the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
