Marvin R. Carlisle, 87, of Spring Bay, IL passed away at 10:10 am on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Unity Point Health-Methodist in Peoria, IL. He was born on March 17, 1934 in Pike County, IN to Harley and Della (Russell) Carlisle. He married Jo Nell Wint on November 24, 1956 in Shawnee Town.
Surviving are his wife, Jo Nell of Spring Bay; two daughters, Angie (Roger) Henry of Springfield, MO and Tanya (Bob) Rudkin of Bell Buckle, TN; Godson, Carlos (Janet) Salem of Peoria; two granddaughters, Michelle “Jeid” (Brian) Griggs and Naomi Adelle Roxby; two great-granddaughters, Alice Lydia Griggs and Zoey A. Griggs; one brother, Cless (Nancy) Carlisle of Sunnyland, IL; sister-in-law, Barbara Carlisle of Washington, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, four sisters, and two nephews.
Marvin honorably retired as a Senior Chief Boatswain’s Mate in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars but not in those locations. He enjoyed kart racing, watching sports on TV, and was a Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Bradley Braves fan. Marvin enjoyed singing in various churches in the area and was known as “Naomi and Grandpa”.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Reverend Tom Myers officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Spring Bay Cemetery with military rites accorded.
