Marjorie "Marj" Remley Obituary

Marjorie D. “Marj” Remley, 83, of Metamora, IL passed away at 8:15 pm on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.

She was born on October 3, 1940, in Grayson County, Kentucky, to William and Wilma (Hodge) Haycraft. She married Don C. Remley on October 6, 1958 in Lacon, IL. He passed away on September 26, 2023.

Surviving are her children, Rodney Remley of Metamora, Don C. Remley, Jr. of Newburg, OR, and Pat (Monte) Winkler of Washburn, IL; grandchildren, Brandon (Danielle) Winkler of Lacon, IL, Marissa (Zach) Robison of Metamora, IL, Don (Brittnie) Remley of Tacoma, WA, and Elliott Remley of Germantown Hills, IL; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Joanna Grant of Sheperdsville, KY, Barb Colvin of Mountain Home, AR, Susan McKinney of Pontiac, IL, Pam Goodrum of Princeton, IL, Colleen (George) Wheeler of Putham, IL, and David (Joyce) Gee of Sparland, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Adam Remley, and ten siblings.

Marj had worked for Metamora Hallmark Fixtures Operations, retiring in 1995. Marj loved gardening. Going to the greenhouse and getting flowers was one of her favorite things to do. She loved spending time outside taking care of all of her plants. She most definitely had a green thumb. She also loved to spend her time crocheting. She always had her yarn close by and she created so many beautiful afghans over the years. Marj also had a love for travel. Her and her husband traveled all over together. Above everything else, Marj loved spending time with her family. She will be missed so much and will forever be in our hearts.

Cremation rites have been accorded. No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Association Central Illinois Chapter, 614 West Glen Avenue, Peoria, IL 61614. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
