Marjorie Ann (Breedlove) Rodgers

May 17, 1930 — September 26, 2022

Marjorie Ann (Breedlove) Rodgers, 92, a longtime Washington resident, passed away early Monday, September 26, 2022, at the Chase House of ThriveCare Assisted Living in Littleton, Colorado.

Margie was born to Mary Helen (Few) and Othal John Breedlove of Peoria and was raised in Peoria, Macomb, Astoria, and Augusta, Illinois. She was a graduate of Augusta High School and received a Bachelor's degree from Bradley University in 1952. For a brief time, she taught PE at Roosevelt Junior High School in Peoria.

She married William C. "Bill" Rodgers on September 13, 1953. Soon after, they moved to Washington, where they remained and raised two children. He preceded her in death in 2016. Margie moved to assisted living near her daughter in July 2021.

A resident of Washington for over 65 years, Margie cherished her many friends and was an avid golfer and tennis player, as well as enjoying pinochle and bridge. Always involved in the life of the community, she was a longtime member of the Washington Presbyterian Church, Washington Women's Club, PEO, and the local chapter of the Avion club. She was involved with the Washington Welcome Wagon for many years, welcoming new families to town. In retirement, Margie and Bill enjoyed traveling the country in their Avion travel trailer, including long travelcades to Alaska and through Mexico and wintering for over 25 years in Mesa, AZ, where they were active in the Church of the Master Presbyterian Church and the Viewpoint RV Resort community.

Surviving are her son Jeffrey (Carol) Rodgers of Andros Island, Bahamas, daughter Cynthia (Douglas) Zimmerman of Ken Caryl, Colorado; 6 grandchildren Daniel Rodgers of Norfolk, VA, Amanda (Mike) Stull of Virginia Beach, VA, Steven (Kylee) Rodgers of Rogue River, OR, Jeff Rodgers of Washington, IL, Ryan Zimmerman of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Lauren (Severin) Lier of Minneapolis. MN and nine great-grandchildren. Her nephews Timothy (Denise) Kipling and Matthew (Vicki) Kipling and their children reside in Macomb, IL, and her cousin Sarah (Few) Ward is in Houston, TX. One half-sister, Lori (Breedlove) Hightower, resides in Jackson, TN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, sister Maureen Hamilton, one nephew Chris "Kip" Kipling, and cousin Tom Few.

Graveside services will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Washington at 11:00 Friday, October 7, 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Washington Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
