Marion F. "Bud" McGrew, 85, of Mackinaw, formerly of Sunnyland, passed away at 4:46 am, Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Unity Point Health Methodist in Peoria.
He was born July 22, 1936, in Flora, the son of Charles and Vivienne Taylor McGrew. He married Lois J. Boswell on June 8, 1957 in Glasford, IL.
Surviving are his wife, two sons Scott (Dianna) McGrew of Poolesville, MD and Dennis McGrew of Wilmington, NC; one daughter Rhonda (Jerry) Eakle of Havana, IL. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one sister Sandi (Jim) Purtscher of Edwards, IL., one brother-in-law Al Misener of East Peoria, IL; two sisters-in-law Cheryl Boswell of Rio Rancho, NM, and Sherry Boswell of Glasford, IL. Further surviving are several nieces and nephews. His parents, one sister Charlene Misener, two brothers-in-law Jim Boswell, husband of Sherry, and Chuck Boswell, husband of Cheryl all preceded him in death.
Bud is now walking Shadow, his big white dog, in heaven.
Bud was a Professional Civil Engineer and Registered Land Surveyor starting with the Illinois Department of Transportation and retiring from Daily & Associates. He was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church in Washington for 62 years, where he served as a youth leader, Sunday school teacher and served his Church Family on many committees.
Faith, Family, and the outdoors were the loves of his life. Bud taught his Family how to love God, each other, and God’s Creation. Bud and Lois were their children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fans traveling many miles to ball games, sporting matches, and dance recitals. Their residence in Mackinaw is a Certified Wildlife Habitat with the National Wildlife Federation. Bud was Boy Scout, and as an adult, he was a Scout Master with Troop 205. Bud loved camping and was the chaplain of the camping club. He served as a member of the District 50 School Board.
A time to celebrate his life is scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, October 1, 2021, at Evangelical United Methodist Church in Washington. Pastor Charles McDonald will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Mason-White Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Additional visitation will be one-hour prior to his service. Burial will be at Swan Lake Cemetery in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Evangelical United Methodist Church in Washington.
