Marcella M. Obery

Marcella M. Obery, 88, of rural Metamora, IL passed away at 3:57 pm on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.  She was born on January 16, 1930 in Metamora to Leo C. and Lydia D. (Kiesewetter) Fandel.  She married Edward A. “Eddie” Obery on November 28, 1953 in Metamora.  He passed away on January 25, 1994.

Surviving are her children John (Lisa) Obery, Ann (Ted) Cowling, Sue (Dale) Matson and Mark (Beverly) Obery all of Metamora, Kay (Bill) Armbruster of Lincoln, IL, and Joy (Todd) Stalter of Metamora; grandchildren Clint “Bo” (Marcie) Cowling, Whitney (Garret) Blunier, Levi Obery, Drew (Ashley) Matson, Molly (Weston) Walker, Laci (Ed) Dearing, Morgan (Grant) Reckling, Michael Armbruster, Taylor Matson, Logan Armbruster, Mason Bragg, and William Armbruster II; step-grandchildren Shantel and Travis Stalter; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and siblings Agnes Parr of Metamora, and Donald “Doc” (Joan) Fandel and Lulu Mae “Suzy” (Jack) Hoffman both of Germantown Hills.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter, four brothers, and four sisters.

Marcella was a graduate of Browns Business College.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora and its Altar and Rosary Society.  She enjoyed spending time helping her family.  For several years before her husband Eddie’s passing, Marcella was his loving caregiver until his death.  In later years her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora with Father Vien Van Do officiating.  Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 3:30 pm on Friday, December 21, 2018 at the church with visitation to follow from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Metamora.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Snyder Village, 1200 East Partridge Street, Metamora, IL 61548 or St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 415 West Chatham Street, Metamora.  Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
