WASHINGTON – Mabel C. Weaver, 95, of Washington, IL passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Villas of Holly Brook in Washington, IL

Mabel was born September 12, 1922, in Pulaski, Iowa to Ed and Linda Cowles. She married Donald W. Roszhart on June 1, 1946. He preceded her in death in June, 1957. She later married Dana L. Weaver in December, 1966. He preceded her in death in July, 1985.

Surviving is her son, Fred (Carol) Roszhart of Washington, IL and two stepchildren, Jana (Collins) Bruer of Washington, IL and Danny (Catherine) Weaver of Carlsbad, CA. Also surviving are two grandchildren Sarah (Keegan) Stombaugh of Chicago, IL and Patrick Roszhart of St. Louis, MO; along with ten step-grandchildren Shane (Ingrid) Bruer, Andrea (Jason) Spatafore, Kasey (Dave) Jane, Jay (Sara) Bruer, Robbyn (Josh) Blick, Holly (Scot) Mendenhall, Dana Weaver, Greyson Weaver, Colin Weaver and Irena Weaver along with 27 step-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother Victor (Ethyln) Cowles, two sisters Frances (Bill) Mossiman and Florence (Lowel) Wagler and one infant step great grandson Zion Blick.

Mabel graduated from Bloomfield, IA high school and attended Bluffton College in Bluffton, OH. After college, Mabel taught at Meadows and Deer Creek, IL grade schools before beginning her career at Caterpillar Inc. She primarily worked in the Human Resources Dept. in Morton, IL for 33 years. For many years she was a volunteer as an adult literacy tutor serving the Peoria area.

Besides spending time with her family, she was devoted to Calvary Community Church in Washington, serving on the church council for 6 years and being a lifelong member of Women In Mission. Quilting, knitting and sewing were always a big part of her life adding comfort and smiles to many family members and friends.

Throughout her adult life she enjoyed travelling, especially her six trips to Australia visiting her son and family. Several trips were made to Wyoming and Iowa visiting her dear relatives along with land and sea cruises to Europe and Alaska.

Mabel is best known to family and friends for her kindness, generous soul and warm friendly attitude toward everyone.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Calvary Community Church, 115 E. Jefferson Ave, Washington, IL. Pastors Clayton Tinervin and David Jane officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Additional visitation will be one-half hour prior to her service at the church. Cremation will follow her service and inurnment will be held at a later date at Chenoa Cemetery in Chenoa, IL.
