WASHINGTON - Lorna K. Keefer of Washington, formerly of Polo, IL, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Villas of Hollybrook.
Lorna was born on May 12, 1930 in Eastlake, MI, the only child of the late George and Anna (Nelson) Albertson. She married Robert “Bob” Keefer on June 26, 1955 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Manistee, MI. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2002.
Surviving are her children Laura (Al Treffner) of Las Cruces, NM, and Kurt (Marcia) of Germantown Hills and their daughters Andrea Spurgeon and Stacy (John) Osborn.
Lorna grew up in Eastlake and Manistee, MI, on the shore of Lake Michigan. Beaches and lighthouses were a lifetime interest. She graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, then accepted a job teaching high school business ed in Polo, where she met and married Bob Keefer.
Lorna lived in Polo for over 55 years and was an active part of the Polo community as a member of Polo United Methodist Church, PEO and Sauk Valley Community College board of trustees, as well as other volunteer activities. She was a life-long learner, taking college courses, traveling the world with Elderhostel and attending Learning in Retirement courses.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service for Lorna will be held at a later date and her cremated remains will be interred at Fairmount Cemetery in Polo, IL.
