Larry Maxson Obituary

Larry L. Maxson, 82, of Germantown Hills, IL, passed away at 4:35 am, Saturday, March 11, 2023, at his home where he loved to be.

He was born on September 22, 1940, in Canton, IL, to Lowell and Bernadine (Sheets) Maxson. He married Donna Wiese on April 22, 1982, in Nashville, TN.

Surviving are his wife, one daughter Dawn (Charles) Mulligan of Canton, IL; one stepson Brian Adams of Atlanta, IL, and stepdaughter Mindy (Kenny) Hopp of Washington; two brothers, William (Ruth) Maxson of Canton, IL, and Richard (Delores) Maxson of Table Grove, IL; two sisters Mary McCloskey of Jacksonville, IL and Joyce Maxson of Ipava, IL. His parents and one brother John Maxson, one brother-in-law Karl Wiese, one daughter in law Lisa Kuhlmann, and one stepson Kenneth Adams preceded him in death.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Payton Mulligan and Sammy Mulligan, both of Canton, IL; Abby Adams of Lincoln, NE; Brock Hopp and Maci Hopp, both of Washington, IL. and one great grand granddaughter, Clara Belle Lattimer of Lincoln, NE. Larry loved his family and four-footed friends Cassie Rae and Buddy Boo. He had a heart of gold and will be missed so much.

Larry graduated in 1958 from Canton Senior High School and Bradley University in 1974. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for forty years in various accounting positions retiring in 2002. He was in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a member of Masonic Lodge Schiller Lodge #335 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies-Valley of Peoria., Mohammed Shrine Temple, and the American Legion.

Larry enjoyed going to Bradley Basketball games, bowling, golfing and attending Hot Wheel Car meetings. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be one hour before his service also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
