Larry Broadfield Obituary

Larry M. Broadfield, 73, of Washington passed away at 6:36pm, Friday, February 7, 2020, at Unity Point Health Methodist in Peoria.

He was born on April 12, 1946, in Peoria the son of Melvin and Juanita E Truelove Broadfield.  He married Shirley J. Sill on August 8, 1972 in Peoria.

Surviving are his wife, one daughter Shellie (Bud) Phipps of Delavan, two sons Brad Broadfield of Morton, IL and Brian (Laura Foley) Broadfield of Terre Haute, IN.  Also surviving are three grandchildren Lindsey Broadfield,  Mason Broadfield and Reba Phipps along with one great grandson Ryder Broadfield.  Further surviving are three brothers, Jerry (Maryanne) Broadfield of Princeville, Rick (Debbie) Gore of East Peoria and Mike Gore of Washington; Janey (Ronnie) Beetchen of Morton, Donita (Chuck) Wood of  Pekin and Karen (Bill) Irvin of Vero Beach, FL. His parents, one sister Sherry Zehr, one brother Ed Broadfield and one grandson Travis Broadfield preceded him in death.  

A U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict.  After his honorable discharge from the Army  he  worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 20 years. After his retirement from Caterpillar, he owned and operated Broadfield Trucking in Washington again retiring in 2004 due to health issues. 

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Larry's Life will be held Saturday, February 22, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 100, 211 Legion Rd in Washington.  Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
