LaVonne Marlene "Bonnie" Strieder, 83, of Metamora, IL, passed peacefully into eternal life on Thursday, September 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on November 20, 1941, to George Hutt and Rose E. (Mariner) Hutt, Bonnie was later blessed with the care of her stepmother, June Hutt. On July 15, 1961, she married the love of her life, Donald C. Strieder. Their marriage of more than 64 years was a true partnership built on devotion, faith, and enduring love.
Bonnie's Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. Baptized into the faith on December 23, 1960, she remained steadfast in her devotion until her last breath. Over the years, she was an active parishioner in several Catholic churches throughout the area, most recently of St. Thomas in Peoria Heights. She served faithfully as a eucharist minister, prayed her rosary daily, and lived her life as a quiet but powerful witness to her love of Christ.
Bonnie graduated from Peoria School of Practical Nursing in December 1960 and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her career began at St. Francis in Peoria and extended across several medical offices and facilities until her retirement. Caring for others was not just her profession but her calling.
Bonnie had a deep affection for animals, especially her beloved dogs, who brought her joy and companionship throughout her life.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald; their son, Jeffery; brothers-in-law, Glenn Rauh, Joe, and George Strieder; and sisters-in-law, Mary (Chuck) Brandenburg, Carole Gendron, and Kathy Bachman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rose, stepmother June, siblings Edna DeMoss, Sharon Rauh, and Jackie Girbert; sister-in-law Shirley Scurto, and brothers-in-law Ken Strieder, Roger Bachman, and Sam Scurto.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Hospice caregivers Tina and Jamie, as well as the second-floor Proctor nurses, whose compassion and kindness brought comfort during her final days.
Bonnie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her gentle heart, and the love she poured into her family, especially her beloved husband Donald. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion, service, and quiet strength that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
