Kenneth J. Kiley Jr

Kenneth John Kiley, Jr., 81, of Peoria passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria. He was born on November 21, 1935 in Chicago, IL to Fayette Thomas and Kenneth John Kiley Sr., who both preceded him in death. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Frances (Hunt) on October 23, 1954, she survives. Also surviving are their children, Mark (Jeanne) Kiley of Sanger, TX, Teresa (Tim) Nauman of Washington, IL and John Kiley of Peoria, IL; five grandchildren, Daniel, Sarah, Josh, Jessica, Crit; one great grandchild, Jack; and two brothers, Richard (Charlene) Thomas of Colorado and Robert (Barbara) Kiley of California. Ken was passionate about photography and started his career at Pfile's Camera Shop in Decatur, IL. He continued on to be a photographer for Decatur Herald Review and then for the Peoria Journal Star. He worked at OSF St. Francis Medical Center and retired after 28 years as a medical photographer managing the A/V Department. In retirement, he enjoyed working as a photographer for Soderstrom Skin Institute. Ken was an avid bicyclist and instrumental in the expansion of the Rock Island Trail. He also enjoyed supporting the Contemporary Art Center and cheering for his St. Louis Cardinals. Ken will be missed for his positive outlook on life. He loved bringing joy to others which was shown through his volunteer work at Sophia's Soup Kitchen, sharing his faith through Cursillo and making people smile with one of his many jokes. He was a true example of how to be humble and kind. He loved spending time with his family, which was a testament to 62 years of marriage. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to Rosewood Center of Peoria and OSF Hospice for their loving care. A Memorial Service will he held 11:00am, Thursday, December 29, 2016, at St. Vincent De Paul Church in Peoria with Fr. Tom Taylor officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm also at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sophia's Kitchen, Friends of the Rock Island Trail, Contemporary Art Center of Peoria, or OSF Hospice.
