Kathleen O. Whisler

Kathleen O. Whisler, 74, of Washburn, IL passed away at 12:35 am on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Toulon Rehab & Health Care Center in Toulon, IL. She was born on November 6, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida to Walter Lee and Mary (Tweedle) O’Dell. She married Lester L. Whisler on June 7, 1964 in Washburn, IL. He passed away on November 27, 2009.

Surviving are her son John (Laura) Whisler of Burbank, CA; daughter Julia Whisler of Washburn; grandchildren Alex, Dylan and Reed Whisler, Noah Hohulin, and Jessica (Kyle) Grebner; six great-grandchildren; and siblings Donna (Carlisle) Meachum O’Dell of Washburn, Beth Sheperd of Peoria, David (Nancy) O’Dell of Virden, IL, and Mary Eileen O’Dell of St. Louis, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Kathleen received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and was a dedicated and caring teacher. She was a member of Washburn United Methodist Church in Washburn, IL. Kathleen was selfless and wanted to help people achieve their goals. She will be remembered for her incredible heart. She was the happiest with her grandkids and great-grandkids and working in her garden.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Washburn United Methodist Church with Reverend William Meachum officiating. No visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association Central Illinois Chapter, 614 West Glen Avenue, Peoria, IL 61614.
