John P. Lindsey, Jr., 65, of Roanoke, IL went to be with his Lord Jesus at 6:34 am on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 14, 1955 in Peoria, IL, the son of John P. and Marion Jean (Blackburn) Lindsey, Sr. He married Deborah S. Bellman on September 29, 1990 in Fort Meyers, Florida. She survives.
Also surviving are one sister, Rene (Andy) Matarelli of Peoria; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Daniel and Judy Fairchild of Roanoke; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mark and Jan Tol of Roanoke and Steve and Danette Bellman of Secor; aunt, Mick Blackburn of O'Fallon, MO; cousin, Dan (Janice) Cunningham of East Peoria; nephews, Joshua (Michele) Tol of Roanoke, Jacob (Abbey) Tol of Deer Creek, Chad (Kindra) Cunningham of East Peoria, and Dan (Karla) Thompson of Naperville, IL; nieces, Victoria (Vlad) Novichenko of Hudson and Jennifer (Brian) Willey of Roanoke; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and two special cats, Brown and Goldie. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John worked as a bookkeeper at Earlybird Feed and Fertilizer for ten years, retiring in 2017. John loved his family deeply and was known to have a heart of genuine goodness. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He taught his nephews, Joshua and Jacob, the sport of hunting. John loved gardening and mushroom hunting. The highlight of his years hunting was killing two black bears with his bow and arrow in Minnesota. He attended Riverside Community Church in Peoria and volunteered for the New Abilities special needs for five years.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am at Riverside Community Church on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 with Pastor John King officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service on Tuesday at the church. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service with his committal service being held at 2:00 pm in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora.
