John Fetters Obituary

John Lee Fetters, age 71, of Washington formerly of Danville, IL passed away on Tuesday, March 24th, 2020 at his home in Washington, Illinois after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born December 27, 1948, in Danville, Illinois to Floyd and Viola (Queen) Fetters.

John attended High School in Rossville, Illinois. He continued his education at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston Illinois, graduating in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in business. John married Lynne Fetters (Smith) on November 29, 1969, in Rossville, Illinois. They raised 2 children: Ryan Fetters and Megan Fetters.

John worked at American Can (later called Silgan Containers), starting out in the shipping department and finishing his 40-year career in the office. John enjoyed taking vacations with the family to his favorite places: Disney, Hawaii and Branson and cheering on the Yankees and Fighting Illini. He was loved by all who knew him, never knowing a stranger but it was his wife, kids and grandkids that meant the most to him. John was an incredible Grandpa and Poppy, never missing a ball game, dance recital or music concert and enjoyed caring for his youngest granddaughter during the day. John adored his wife, sharing an incredible love story and friendship that made them as one. John was an incredibly strong individual who, despite his physical struggles with diabetes, kidney disease and cancer, fought his hardest every day to stay with his family as long as possible.

John is survived by his wife, Lynne; son Ryan (Kate) Fetters; daughter Megan Fetters (Nathan Behl); grandson Matthew Fetters; granddaughters Sarah Fetters, McKenna Fetters; mother Viola Fetters; sister Jean Peters (Dave Haworth); sisters-in-law Sue (Gordon) Smock, Kenna Jean (Larry) Smock; and several nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father Floyd Fetters; sister-in-law Rhonda DeMarse; and all four grandparents.

Cremation rites have been accorded and no services are scheduled. Memorial contributions can be made in John's honor to the National Kidney Foundation or Illinois Cancer Care Foundation. To share a memory or send a condolence for his family, visit www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
