John W. Bennett

John William Bennett, 71, of Morton, IL formerly of Hopedale, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Saturday, January 6, 2018, at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

He was born on June 18, 1946 in Pekin, IL to John and Mary Bennett. He married Carolyn Buck on May 9, 1970. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughter Shannon (Dave) Craddick, son Joshua Bennett, four grandchildren, Shelby Craddick, Cole Craddick, Maci Bennett and Averi Bennett and one great-grandson Kai. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Laurin Bennett.

John served two years in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea. He was a machine supervisor at Ivex Paper Company in Peoria, IL retiring in 2005. John was a member of the American Legion and attended Harvest Bible Chapel in East Peoria, IL. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, woodworking, softball, dirt track racing, playing cards and traveling with his wife.

John's Celebration of Life will be at the American Legion in Morton, Sunday, January 21, 2018, from 2pm until 4pm.
