J.T. Haycraft, 87, of Lowpoint, IL passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 19, 2021. He was born on November 27, 1933 in Grayson County, Kentucky to the late William and Wilma (Hodge) Haycraft. He married Sharon Fay Harvey on December 31, 1955 in Lacon, IL. She passed away on August 9, 2020.
Surviving are children J.T. (Connie) Haycraft, Jr. of Muscatine, IA, Natalie (Dan) Force of Metamora, IL, Bill Haycraft of Lacon, IL, Todd (Becky) Haycraft and Nathan Haycraft both of Lowpoint, and Jeromy (Christy) Haycraft of Washburn, IL; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; six sisters; and two brothers. He was preceded in death by son Brian Haycraft, daughter Tina Turner, seven brothers, and four sisters.
J.T. worked for the Sparland Brickyard, Lucky Strikes cigarette factory, and for a few years as a custodian for the Washburn School District. Along with his wife, J.T. cleaned ducks for the area duck hunters. He was an avid gardener, operating Haycraft Produce for many years with his sons. You could always find him tending to his wood burning stove in the winter and spending time in his garden during the summer.
Cremation rites have been accorded with a graveside burial at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Linn-Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Washburn, followed by a dinner at their home in Lowpoint.
