Hettie Marie Rollings, 73, of Washington, IL, passed away at 1:05 pm on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.
She was born on January 26, 1948, in Washington to Uriah O. and Pauline F. (Brueske) Ullom.
Surviving are her children, Robert Rollings of Tennessee and Christine Rogers of South Carolina, adopted daughter, Amy (Barrett) Vaughn of Washington; granddaughters, Katrina Cummings of Bidwell, Ohio and Cheyenne Kellum of Greenville, South Carolina; grandson, Landon Rollings of Tennessee; sister, Orvilla Ruff of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Roger Rollings, brother William Ullom, and sisters Loretta Bessler and Lura Maness.
Hettie worked as a cook at the Tally-Ho Restaurant in Washington for over 20 years, Don’s Restaurant in Sunnyland, the Ratskeller Restaurant in Washington, and Washington nursing home. She spent her retirement crocheting, baking for family and friends, and spoiling her grandchildren. She loved her dog, Bruno, like one of her children.
She was a cherished friend to those who loved her and the best friend and mother to her daughter Christine. Hettie requests a joyous celebration of her life.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm followed by her celebration of life from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm all at the VFW Post 9016 in Washington Burial of Ashes will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family is asking that donations be made in Hettie’s name to the Pekin TAPS shelter where she got her beloved animals.
