WASHINGTON...Glenwood H. Peters, 90, of Washington, passed away at 5:32 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria with his family by his side. Glenwood was born in Roanoke on January 16, 1922 to John and Meta (Schoon) Peters. He married Matilda Flohr in Benson on December 19, 1943. She passed away on January 27, 1991 in Peoria. Among those surviving are two sons, John (Kathleen) Peters and Steven (Jean) Peters, both of Washington; seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Gwen, Janeen, Steven, Jr., Kevin and Jayne; 18 great grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Freda Flohr of Flanagan and Jean Flohr of Benson. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Bernadine Zupansic. Glenwood had been a lifelong Woodford and Tazewell County farmer. He had been a member of the the Morton Farmers Co-Op Board and Farm Bureau. For many years he also had served on the Pleasant View School Board. Glenwood spent a lot of time in recent years restoring his two antique Farmall tractors. He was a longtime member of St. Mark?s Lutheran Church where he also had served on the property committee. Funeral services for Glenwood will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark?s Lutheran Church with Pastor John Bates and Pastor Dick Hanson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter?s Cemetery in Benson. Visitation for Glenwood will be on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home and on Monday from 10 to 10:45 at the church. Memorials may be directed to the St. Mark?s Parish Nurse Program.
