WASHINGTON?Glenn W. Wagner, 73, of Washington, passed away at 2:07 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Glenn was born on September 20, 1941 in Washington, D.C. to Glenn and Lucretia (Bond) Wagner. Among those surviving are two sons, Nathaniel (Sarah) Wagner of Lansing, Michigan and Matthew (Nikki) Wagner of Port Charlotte, Florida; two brothers, Sam (Marlene) Wagner of Washington and Gerald (Mary Joyce) May of Albuquerque, New Mexico and six grandchildren, Anna, Daniel, Chelsea, Bond, Gabriel and Thor Wagner. He was preceded in death by his parents. Glenn was a graduate of Washington Community High School and excelled as place kicker and tight end on the varsity football team. After high school he attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and later earned a Bachelors degree with Honors in Education from Michigan State University. Glenn traveled to many countries in South America, Africa, Europe and Asia working on behalf of the Pocket Testament League. Throughout his lifetime, he was a great supporter of missions. He then returned to Washington to raise his family and was involved with his sons through their childhood. He counted his grandchildren a blessing and enjoyed them especially during vacations. Glenn retired from Caterpillar where he had worked for more than 25 years as an auditor. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria and taught Sunday School for many years. He was very active in the Gideon?s and also taught a weekly Bible Study at the Peoria City Mission. Glenn held patents on several inventions and was always looking for ways to improve things from complex processes to making common items and tools easier to use. He loved working with wood. Glenn will always be remembered for his love for his family and for the love they gave to him. He loved practical jokes. He was a dedicated and inventive practical joker and was well known for the many antics that he pulled during his lifetime on close friends and family, always in a spirit of fun. Funeral services for Glenn will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2015 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Kerry Frantz officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Friday. Memorials for Glenn may be directed to either Gideon?s or Grace Presbyterian Church.
