Gladys Louise Brown Call, 99, of Spring Bay, IL, passed away at 8:35 am on Friday, May 21, 2021, at The Loft Rehabilitation & Nursing in Eureka. She was born on November 2, 1921, in Lostant, IL, to Chester Roy and Blanche Edith (Porter) Brown, the last of the generations on both sides of the Brown/Call families. She married Lester Roland “Slip” Call on September 28, 1940, in Lacon, IL. He passed away on April 11, 1965.
Surviving are her son, Ronald (Linda) Call of Spring Bay; daughter, Linda Dodwell of Metamora; four grandchildren, Daniel (Gloria) Call, Christopher (Ranae) Call, Michael (Jenny) Dodwell, and Ryan (Carissa) Dodwell; and five great-grandchildren, Jessica (Sam) Call Connor, Victoria Call, Savanna Call, Samantha Dodwell, and Kelten Dodwell; one great-great-granddaughter, Adeline Connor; four nieces; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Dennis Dodwell, and four brothers, Elmer, William, Chester, and Carl Brown.
Gladys was a faithful member of the Spring Bay United Methodist Church since 1950. She worked in the Registrar’s office at Bradley University in Peoria for 20 years. Gladys loved to cook, enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and close friends, and loved family time the most.
Per Gladys’ wishes, funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Spring Bay United Methodist Church with Reverend Binu Peniel officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of her service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Lacon City Cemetery in Lacon, IL.
