Gerry “Dog” Hattan, 79, of Washington, IL, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2021, at Unity Point Methodist in Peoria, IL. He was born in Lowpoint, IL, on November 29, 1942, to the late George and Virginia (Daum) Hattan.
He spent his childhood years on the farm in Lacon, IL, until he entered the military at age 17. After being honorably discharged, he returned home and met and married the love of his life, Sandy Hopkinson, in 1964. She survives as well as four siblings, Gene Hattan, Judy (Bernie) Meyer, Mary (Ron) Roberts, and Kenny (BonNell) Hattan. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Verla, Patty, Lori, and one brother, Steve.
Upon retiring from Caterpillar after 30 years, he spent the last 27 years loving and providing for his wife and children, Tena (Todd) Braun, Tory (Cindy) Hattan, and Tara Hattan. His true loves were his grandchildren Brittany, Jessica, Tanner, Tucker, Tatum, and Trevor. He cared and sacrificed everything he had for them as well as anyone who needed a helping hand.
He was a believer in Jesus and had spent many of his remaining days preparing for the next greatest chapter and purpose of his life. Upon his humble wishes, there will be no services but to just remember the good old days of family vacations, holiday gatherings, and time spent together.
