Georgia "Shorty" Perrilles Obituary

Georgia “Shorty” Perrilles, 84, of Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at her residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Peoria, with Father Jeremy Freehill, as Celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church and a Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 10:45 a.m. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum, immediately following the Mass.

Shorty was born on January 27, 1938, in Peoria, a daughter of George and Helen (Walraven) Perrilles. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Perrilles and sisters, Jacqueline Perrilles and Patricia Perrilles.

She is survived by her nieces, Laurie Perrilles of Morton, Cheryl Perrilles of Peoria, Angela Perrilles of West Peoria and Mandi Kenney of Mapleton; nephews, Scott (Mary) Perrilles of Fairview and Darryl (Dawn) Perrilles of Mapleton; and 10 great nieces and nephews.

Shorty was a very hard worker and took great care of her sisters. She was known as the family videographer. She started with a reel-to-reel camera with silent movies and then had a camcorder that she always carried on her shoulder. She loved to travel, to fish, to work outdoors and to spend time with her family, especially eating out. She really enjoyed her sweets and extra frosting on her cakes.

She had a strong Catholic faith. She attended St. John’s Catholic Grade School and the Academy of Our Lady. She rarely missed Mass and when she couldn’t attend, she would watch it on tv.

Her family said she always stood at the door and waved at them when they left. She loved to fill them in on what she read or saw on tv. She became the main support for her sisters by running errands for them and taking them to appointments. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and was a wonderful influence on them. She will be greatly missed by them.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Shorty’s memory to Peoria Humane Society or for Mass Intentions at St. Ann Catholic Church.
