Esther Cecilia (Schaidle Bachman) Miller

Esther Cecilia (Schaidle, Bachman) Miller, 94, of Metamora, IL, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. She was born on November 14, 1926 in Germantown Hills, IL, to Carl Sr. and Clara (Schneider) Schaidle. She married Merle “Pud” Bachman on July 18, 1945. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1979. Surviving are daughter, Bonnie (Rodney) Nauman of Metamora and son Bob (Diane) Bachman of Westpoint, IN. She married Donald H. Miller on September 11, 1982 in Metamora. He survives.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, four sisters Marie, Elsie, Margaret, and Evelyn, and four brothers Ernest, Carl, Lawrence, and Gerald.

Surviving are one sister, Hildegard Haedicke of East Peoria; three brothers, Joseph, Walter and Donald; and two sisters-in-law, Patricia and Judith, all of Metamora; nine grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Esther started working at the age of fourteen, had various occupations, and finally retired after working 28 years at Metamora Woodworking (Hallmark). She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora. At 94 years, she was still teaching her grandchildren how to garden, how to cook, and how to love. She was also cheering on her Chicago Cubs! She will be greatly missed, but will live forever in our hearts.

A family funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in rural Metamora with Father Gregory Jozefiak officiating. Internment will be in St. Mary of Lourdes Cemetery. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
