Ernest "Ernie" G. Greer

Ernest G. "Ernie" Greer, 84, of Germantown Hills, IL passed away at 2:41 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

He was born on April 1,1940 in East Prairie, MO to Orvel E. and Josie L. (Ray) Greer. He married his loving wife of 59 years, Mary H. Staab, on December 12, 1962.

Ernie was a loving husband to Mary; a devoted father to Chris (Kim) Greer, Steve (Renee) Greer, and Sonya Greer; a grandfather to Gillian Greer, Cullen Greer, Makinzie Greer, Madalyn Greer, Kyle Greer, Dana Ingram, Steven Hrabek, Christopher Lyles, and Melissa Lyles; and a great-grandfather to fifteen. He has one surviving sibling, Flo (Ed) Ballard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sisters, Melva Greer, Meda Hearell, and Daily Wilson.

Ernie worked at Champion Manufacturing Industries for over 40 years. After his retirement, he enjoyed morning coffee visits with his mom and sisters, working outside, telling stories of childhood memories, and spending time with his neighbors. Ernie firmly believed that "setting down roots" for his family was his greatest accomplishment.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Pastor Bob DeBolt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial of Ashes will be in Spring Bay Cemetery in Spring Bay, IL.
