Dorothy Burt Obituary

Dorothy Everly Burt was born to the late Lester Raymond and Vivian Everly Allsup in Peoria, IL on January 14, 1935, she passed away at her home on March 18, 2022, surrounded by family at the age of 87 

Dorothy married her first husband Richard Arlen King on June 17, 1951, in Peoria, IL and raised her six children in Chicago, IL. On June 30, 1984, in Winthrop Harbor, IL she married Richard (Dick) Jerome Burt. Shortly after marrying Dick she moved to Washington, IL to be near her brothers and sisters.

Dorothy was mother to more than her own. She was known to have taken in more than stray animals she also took in those that desperately needed a loving, caring, and safe home. She will be dearly missed by many. One of her favorite sayings to those many was “rise and shine” as she woke us up every morning to start our day. 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Richard Arlen King and Richard Jerome (Dick) Burt. Her sons Richard Arlen King Jr. and James Allen King. Brothers Lester Raymond Junior, Earl Allen, and Walter Allsup. And her sisters Helen Milligan and Francis Chenoweth.

Dorothy was blessed with a large loving family she had eight siblings, six children, 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Mary Potter of Wyoming, IL and two brothers Carl and Robert Allsup. Her daughters Kathryn Laverne Harlow, Vivian Rebecca (Jim) Perrine, Brenda Kay King and Pamela Everly West.

Cremation rites have been accorded, a celebration to celebrate the life of Dorothy will be held June 11, 2022, at 1:00 pm at her daughter’s home.
