Donald Eugene Tullar

Donald Eugene Tullar, 89, of Metamora, IL passed away at 10:00 pm on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the Loft Rehabilitation and Nursing in Eureka, IL.

Don was born on March 8, 1933 in LaSalle, IL to William M. and Catherine (Dudek) Tullar. He married Frances M. LaCosta on September 9, 1961 in LaSalle, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Frances of Metamora; daughter, Cheryl (Steve) Mullins of Metamora; son, Randall (Janet) Tullar of Washington, IL; granddaughters, Melissa (Jim) Butler of Metamora, Carrie Tullar of Creve Coeur, and Karissa Johnson of East Peoria who was like a granddaughter; great-granddaughter, Skyler Rickard of Metamora; brother-in-law, Nick LaCosta of LaSalle, IL; and sister-in-law, Doris Tullar of Batavia, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother William F. Tullar, and sister-in-law Marge LaCosta.

Don was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1953 until 1955. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company in Tool Design and Engineering for 30 years, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora along with the Knights of Columbus. Don donated a lot of his time to the church. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He will be extremely missed by his family.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 17, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Vien Van Do officiating. No visitation will be held.
