Donald Miller Obituary

Donald Harold Miller, 94, of Metamora, IL, passed away peacefully at his step-daughter’s home on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. He was born on April 8, 1927 in Lacon, IL to Jasper W. and Clara M. (Kerker) Miller. He married Esther C. (Schaidle, Bachman) on September 11, 1982 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Metamora. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, his parents, one sister, Francis, and five brothers, Melvin, Lester, Herman, Franklin, and Richard.

Surviving are his one step-daughter, Bonnie (Rodney) Nauman of Metamora; one step-son, Bob (Diane) Bachman of Westpoint, IN; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Schaidle and Walter (Pat) Schaidle; and two sisters-in-law, Judy Schaidle and Hildegard Haedicke.

Don was a U.S. Korean War Army Veteran, having served in Germany. He was a farmer in Central Illinois for many years and retired from Metamora Woodworking (Hallmark Fixture Plant) in 1992 after twenty-five years. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and gardening. Most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially teaching them how to drive. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora. He will be greatly missed, but will live in our hearts forever.

A special thank you to Dr. Michael Whitford and staff for all their guidance and support.
