Bobby J. Cagle, 89, of Peoria, formerly of Eureka and Washington, IL, passed away at 9:46 am on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria.
He was born on January 9, 1934, in Walland, TN, the son of the late Lawrence and Sarah Anna Headrick Cagle. He married Lillian Thomas on March 27, 1953, in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, their five children Kathy Cagle and Brian (Mary) Cagle, both of Washington, IL; Kevin (Kelly) Cagle of Dardanelle, AR; Karen (Tom) Brecklin of Washington and Mindy (Javier) Curiel of Peoria. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Further surviving are one sister Charlotte Snodgrass of Lenoir City, TN. Two sisters, three brothers, and one grandson Jacob Cagle preceded him in death.
His faith was important to him, he attended the Millers Cove Missionary Baptist Church in Walland, TN and was baptized at age 14 in nearby Hesse Creek near his grandfather’s mill.
Bob arrived in Peoria at age 18. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company as a tool and die maker retiring in 1992. After retirement, he serviced Pfaff sewing machines at Peg and Lil's Needlepatch in Washington, where he enjoyed working alongside his wife (owner) and their staff.
Bob was an avid golfer for over 50 years and enjoyed playing many area courses and traveling to Myrtle Beach. He shared his love for his home state of Tennessee with his wife, children, and grandchildren and regularly visited the Great Smoky Mountains throughout the years. He especially enjoyed attending the grandchildren's football and baseball games and following St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball and the University of Tennessee sports.
His great-grandchildren loved him as he loved them and delighted in creating pictures for him, sending him a text daily, and spending time with him.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am on Monday, March 20, 2023, at the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church. Additional visitation will be one hour before his service on Monday, also at the church. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Edwards, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Apostolic Christian Skyline.
