Bobby Bosley

DEER CREEK - Robert Eugene “Bobby” Bosley, 51, of Deer Creek, IL, returned home to Heaven on March 16, 2021, while at St Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL. His loving wife, Julie Thurm Bosley, was at his side.

He was born on May 4, 1969, in Provo, UT, the son of Donald Ray Bosley and Linda Williams Bosley.
Bobby will forever be known for his huge, compassionate heart for people and animals and his great love of music, nature, family, and friends. His musical talent inspired, entertained, and touched many. His laughter and sense of humor brightened our lives. The incredible mark he left on this world, and in our hearts, will be forever.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Thurm Bosley, his daughter Ashton Nicole Bosley, his son Jeremy Bosley, his step-son Jack McLemore, his father Donald Ray Bosley, his mother Linda Williams Bosley, his brother Joseph Brian Bosley, his sisters Donna Bosley, Cheryl (Keola) Palea, Peggy Bosley Ward, and Lindsey Bosley, and many adoring nieces and nephews. 

Bobby wanted to do it all and see it all during his life. He moved quickly from one thing to the next, but most of his life circled around music. He was the lead singer for his first band in Junior High School and was also a member of the “Soundwaves” chorus at Socastee High School in Socastee, South Carolina, and the “Show Cats” chorus at Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. 

Bobby began his music career as a DJ at a roller rink and the Magic Attic in Myrtle Beach, SC, and then ran the spotlights at the Myrtle Beach Opry.  It was there that he really became interested in singing.  After hours, he was on the stage singing into the microphone when his boss happened to hear him and encouraged him to focus on singing.  Later, he began singing at local venues and even appeared on “Star Search" with Ed McMahon and TNN’s “Be a Star when he was in his early 20’s.  In Pickens, South Carolina, Bobby opened for Travis Tritt and swore that he wrote a song about him.  Bobby later made his way to the Daytona Opry, where he was the Master of Ceremonies.  Somewhere along the way, he started selling and designing signs, which led him to complete every sign, from the smallest to the largest, for a mall in Memphis, Tennessee. 

Kidney failure began to slow him down a bit. However, he still loved doing karaoke in restaurants, singing, fishing from his kayak in the mountains, and watching tv shows about Bigfoot, and living in the middle of nowhere/traveling. From KISS to country, he loved it all.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Bruce Edward Williams Sr and Peggy Evers Williams of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and his paternal grandparents George Willard Bosley Sr and Dorothy Anderson (Burley E) Parke of Albion, ID. 

A memorial visitation will be held in Illinois on Saturday, March 20, from 3-6 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Morton, IL.    In Oak Ridge, Tennessee, there will be a memorial service held on Saturday, March 27, at 2:30 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for family only. The burial will occur at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Oak Ridge, TN, and all are invited to attend.  

We would love to have all of our friends and loved ones who are unable to be physically present at the formal memorial in Oak Ridge at the church attend via Zoom with details to follow. Flowers may be sent to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to American Kidney Fund.
