Barbara A. (Koch) Stalter

Barbara A. Stalter, 88, of Washington, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Carle Health-Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL.

She was born on October 16, 1934 in Metamora, IL, to Walter and Kathryn (Stang) Koch. She married Richard Dale Stalter on November 8, 1952 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora. He passed away on November 16, 2014.

Surviving are two sisters, Marilyn K. (Larry) Mullins and Myrna K. (William) Dentino, both of Metamora; sister-in-law, Nancy (the late Duane) Koch of Cazenovia, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Leontine M. (Robert) Nauman of Metamora and Jean A. (Robert) Miller of Pekin, IL, and two brothers, Duane E. Koch of Cazenovia and another who died at birth.

Barbara graduated from St. Mary’s Grade School and Metamora Township High School and through the years worked as a teller and bookkeeper at local banks, newspaper companies, and the Pepsi company. She also belonged to the Junior Women’s Club and the Christian Women’s Club in Washington where she and Dale resided for 62 years.

Barbara loved ballroom dancing and live entertainment, traveling and enjoying nature, gathering with family and friends as well as times with her nieces and nephews as they grew up, and especially loved her and Dale’s little french poodle, Sammie, whom they had for years.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Peggy Hendricks, the staff at Carle Methodist ICU and Cardiac Floor units, and the staff and her friends at Snyder Village in Metamora.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 on Monday, May 15, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora with Father David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her mass on Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Carle Health-Methodist Heart Association, 112 NE Crescent Avenue, Peoria, IL 61606 or to the American Lung Association, 3000 Kelly Lane, Springfield, IL 62711.
